Valle d’Aosta Climate Report
Temperature is the climatic parameter that most clearly shows the changes in climate in the Valle d’Aosta region. Although the effects on precipitation are not yet clearly distinguishable from natural climatic variability, the significant increase in temperature during the 20th century, especially since the mid-1980s, is well confirmed by instrumental records, and is also confirmed by the evolution of important natural indicators such as glaciers, which in almost all parts of the region have been in frank retreat for about 150 years.
Addressing the issue of climate change implies examining the current model of socio-economic development in order to assess its incompatibilities and identify the changes that need to be made to our patterns of living and production of goods and services in order to adapt to these changes.
