Climate Report Campania Region
The basin of central Campania, an area of about 2200 km² extending between the provinces of Naples, Avellino, Benevento, Caserta, and Salerno, is characterized by high urbanization and high hydrogeological, seismic, and volcanic vulnerability. Given the importance of this area for its landscape, environmental and historical-cultural features, it is necessary to promptly identify the main vulnerabilities of the area and develop the necessary intervention plans. This study aims to examine the impact of climate change in Naples, taking into consideration data collected on the acceleration of weather phenomena. Through an in-depth analysis of climate trends, an increase in the average temperature in the city emerges, a phenomenon of concern. In 2021, the average annual temperature in Naples reached 17°C, an increase of 0.5°C from 1981-2010 and 1.1°C from 1971-2000.
